Overview

The Mayor and Gainesville City Council appoint members to a Main Street Advisory Board to provide guidance to the Main Street Manager.

Board Member Duty and Commitment

  • Actively promote and advocate for the Main Street Program to the community
  • Serving the Downtown Gainesville community through advising the Main Street Manager on downtown revitalization projects, events and programming
  • Review and advise on façade and event grant applications
  • Participate in one of the following roles: Chair a Main Street Committee, serve as secretary for the Advisory Board, volunteer at Main Street events, and/or assist with growing membership and sponsorships for events
  • Commit to attend all eight Main Street Advisory Board meetings per year, noting that absenteeism at three successive meetings or absenteeism at four meetings in a year results in removal from the Board
  • Agree to complete the Main Street 101 Training provided by the Georgia Main Street Program
  • Attend other Main Street Membership Meetings and additional meetings as needed for the program
